Liquid dye Penetrants Testing
Liquid Dye Penetrants Testing

Liquid penetrant testing or dye penetrant testing, is a reliable method for detecting surface-breaking flaws in materials with a non-porous surface such as metals, plastics, glass and ceramics. This method relies on a fluorescent or visible dye penetrant seeping into a flaw such as a lap, seam, fracture or crack to form a surface indication that can be evaluated depending on the penetrants used under special lighting.

Testing is performed according to ASTM E1417, ISO 3452, EN 1371, ASME V-6, ASME V-24.

SpectrumNDT applies the following techniques for dye penetrant testing:

  • Visible solvent removable
  • Water washable
  • UV
